Wow! What an amazing Sunday we just had! Makers Society hosted it’s first ever Bake Swap over at the Hop & Grain Brew Store in Enmore. This was an invite-only event as we were testing the waters and just hoping someone would turn up. Lucky for us, everyone really loved the idea and put so much time and effort into their baking! So many people saw the photos we were all sharing with the hashtag ‘#thegreatbakeswap” and asked about what exactly it was and how to get involved next time.
So here it is: The Great Bake Swap was our crazy scheme to get more cake. Essentially it was a chance to meet and greet with some of our fellow blogger / foodie / creative types! Everyone brought a baked good of some variety along and then we enjoyed an afternoon tea with some yummy tea supplied by T Totaler in Newtown. Amber organised a yummy sparkling immune booster tea that was the perfect accompaniment to the incredible amount of sugar we ate. Cannot recommend it enough!
Once we had eaten all we could eat, we divvied up the remaining goods amongst ourselves to enjoy later (hence the ‘Swap’). It was a lovely relaxing afternoon that brought us all together…and gave us all a sugar rush! Seriously, I think by the end of it, we had peaked and gotten quite giggly and then crashed hard and got serious savouring cravings.
This photo cracks me up – we made everyone wait until we were finished taking photos to eat, we all stood on eagerly awaiting the green light to eat! Also check out the brilliant necklace below – Erika made them for everyone to wear from fondant!!
As for the many questions of getting involved next time, drop your email in the comments section at the end of this post and we will get in contact with you with the details. Most likely the next one will be more of a savoury thing since we’re all sugared out.
